Choosing the right security alarm for your home or business
When homes or businesses are considering getting a new security alarm system, there are usually so many questions that they want to ask. We wanted to answer some of these so people feel better equipped with the knowledge they need before picking up the phone to book a no obligation, free estimate with us.
There are a number of considerations when selecting the right alarm system for your home or business, and often these differentiate when it comes to commercial vs. domestic.
Budget
The main question we get asked is about budget. It goes without saying that domestic budgets vary dramatically from commercial, with home alarm systems starting in and around £300. With home security alarm systems the cost is reflected in the size of the home and the technology you want or need.
In terms of business, it is harder to give a starting cost, which is why we offer free of charge, no obligation site visits. With these we can determine the needs of the business and give an accurate price based on requirements so there are no surprises throughout the installation process.
Installation
We often get questions about how long installation will take and if there is an additional cost involved.
At SR Fire and Security we include installation with the price of your security alarm system, and the main benefit of booking with us is that you deal with the same person from start to finish. We pride ourselves on our personal approach, and strive to have a great relationship with every customer.
Installation time for the average house is approximately one day, but it depends on the size and requirements of the home. This will be discussed with you in advance as we carry out site surveys for all customers. Once we carry out a site survey, we provide a quote and estimated date and time frame for installation. We aim to carry out site surveys within 2-3 days from your initial query.
Do you need certain things in your home/business to have an alarm system installed?
In short, the answer to this question is no, which often comes as a surprise to our customers. There are three options for security alarm systems which are;
- Bells only – our cheapest security alarm system that has no internet or phone line requirements
- App enabled – This system connects via wifi and uses an app on your phone to push notifications
- Monitored systems – (commercial) – links via a phone line/internet/sim card to alarm receiving centre and in turn notifies all key holders
If there is a certain type of system you want in your home but you don’t have the essential requirements, SR Fire and Security will arrange for the relevant work to be done and include this in your quote. For example, if you require CCTV in a remote area with no internet access, we can provide a 4G router.
